April Fool’s Day: April 1

Knit and Stitch: Thursday, April 2, 3-4:30pm, Del Mar Library. Bring your needles, yarn, a project and a friend. Sponsored by Del Mar Community Connections.

First Thursday: April 2, Holly Hoffman and Mike Wofford Jazz Ensemble with flute and piano, Powerhouse Community Center, refreshments at 6:30pm, lecture at 7pm. Offered by the Cultural Arts Committee of the Del Mar Foundation, the event is for subscribers only.

Del Mar Farmer’s Market: Every Saturday, 1-4pm, City Hall parking lot. Purchase fresh, locally grown produce, flowers, eggs, and many other products.

Friends of the Powerhouse Tile Painting: Sunday, April 5, 11am-4pm, Powerhouse Park. Second tile painting event to benefit the new Lifeguard Headquarters; painted tiles will be installed during construction; bricks will also be available to personalize.

Children’s Craft and Music at the Powerhouse: Sunday, April 5, noon to 2pm. Arts & Crafts & Face Painting at noon, concert featuring Hullabaloo from 1-2pm, Powerhouse Community Center. Enjoy Del Mar’s award-winning kid-folk duo! Admission is free, parental supervision required. Sponsored by the Del Mar Foundation.

City Council Meetings: Monday, April 6 and Monday, April 20, 6pm, Del Mar TV studio.

Cultural Arts Committee: Wednesday, April 8, 8:30am, Powerhouse Community Center. The meeting is open to anyone who would like to attend.

Del Mar Foundation Board Meeting: Thursday, April 9, 8:30am, City Hall Annex. All interested parties are welcome to attend.

Del Mar Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, April 11, 10am, Seagrove Park. E. Bunny will make an appearance, so parents, bring your cameras! Reservations required: children@DelMarFoundation.org.

Coffee & Conversations: Monday, April 13, 10-11:30am, City Hall Annex. Charles von Gunten, M.D., PhD of San Diego Hospice Foundation will speak on: “A Conversation about Palliative Medicine.”

Garden Tour and Treasure Hunt: Friday, April 17, 9-10am, 328 Bellaire. Come celebrate Spring with DMCC as you stroll leisurely through Mary Friestedt’s gorgeous garden and discover hidden treasures. No need to RSVP, just be there!

San Dieguito Lagoon Day 2009 Program: Sunday, April 19, 4pm-6pm, Powerhouse Community Center. A panel of experts including Bill Haas, Steve Schroeter, Patrick Tennant and Leslie Woollenweber will speak on the fish, flora, birds and other wildlife of our lagoon. Have the Light Bulbs Changed in Your Home: Saturday, April 25 by appointment.   Local Del Mar Rotarians will change out your old light bulbs to the new, energy-efficient type; if asked, they will also change batteries in your smoke detectors. Call or email DMCC to make an appointment for your home visit.
