St.
Peter’s
Episcopal Church, the
only
church in Del Mar, has
been searching for just
the right person to
serve our unique community
of parishioners and
we are pleased to announce
that Reverend Paige
Blair will begin leading
the church on May 26.
Her husband Gene Fox
will join her while
her stepdaughter Adriana
will join them when
free from her college
studies.
Reverend
Blair was born at
March
AFB in Riverside
California.
She grew up in a
military
family, primarily
in
Alaska and Colorado,
yet went back east
for her education.
Blair
received her bachelor’s
degree in international
relations from Boston
University in 1992
and her master of divinity
degree in 1995 from
the Boston University
School of Theology.
She has continued
her post-graduate studies
at the Episcopal Divinity
School in Cambridge,
Mass., as well as
the Harvard Divinity
School. Additional
continuing education
has been done with
emphasis on the Millennium
Development Goals,
Byzantine Iconography,
and Mind-Body-Spirit
Ministry and Pastoral
Care.
Blaire
will be coming from
St. George’s
Episcopal Church in
York Harbor Maine where
she served as Rector
for 8 years. Paige stood
out early in the review
process as a person
of exceptional gifts,
talents, and skill.
She is well prepared
to bring those gifts
to a parish such as
St. Peter’s.
Blair
will be remembered
especially at St.
George’s
for her inspiring
preaching
style as well as
introducing
the U2charist community
service which is
especially
appealing to church
youth. She will leave
behind an active
outreach
ministry called Angel
Food. Her vibrant
personality
was attractive to
the
Diocese of Maine
and
she was interviewed
frequently by several
media regarding her
role as one of the
founders of the U2charist
movement.
Blair
will be taking on
a
much larger church
community here in
Del
Mar but she looks
forward
to helping continue
the outreach programs
of feeding our homeless,
hosting the Community
Connection events,
the life stories
classes,
and the Del Mar Rotary
Club.
Please
keep your eye out
for
Paige and Gene at
the
Del Mar dog park
since
they will be bringing
two family members,
Labradoodle and Gracie-Roo.
Paige is also likely
to be spotted at
the
10am Friday morning
yoga classes offered
to through Community
Connection’s
at St. Peter’s
church. She is
an avid student
of Ashtanga Yoga
because, as she
says, “it
reminds me to
breathe.”
Gene
is a librarian and
a poet and is looking
forward to exploring
the energetic academic
life, which San Diego
offers. Gene and
Paige
will live in Del
Mar
at the St. Peter’s
Church rectory on
11th Street.
