As a long-time resident of Del Mar, I care deeply about this community. I’m committed to upholding our Community Plan, which seeks to preserve our rustic natural beauty—sandstone bluffs and canyons, scenic views and beaches, and our urban forest—things which make Del Mar a unique place. I also value the opportunities residents have to participate in local decision making. I support the smart, sustainable growth that will be needed to revitalize Del Mar’s commercial corridor, while maintaining our charming village ambiance.
Most recently, I’ve served on the Del Mar Planning Commission, where I’ve been exposed to a variety of issues, and familiarized myself with the City’s land use ordinances. My experiences as a Planning Commissioner, and my involvement with neighbors in advocating for the review and improvement of the City’s Design Review process, helped me realize that I could be an effective City Council member. Other friends and neighbors seemed to agree, so when opportunity knocked, I threw my hat in the ring.
I enjoy leading, and collaborating as part of a team, to build consensus on important issues. Del Mar is known for having residents with strong opinions. I will respect and listen to all citizens, and work with residents, business owners, fellow council members, and staff to reach consensus on issues that impact our city.
I will also bring superior organizational and management skills to the Council, which I’ve honed over a decade and a half as a leader and manager of operations and infrastructure systems in the hi-tech and health care fields. Some very important decisions and projects are on the horizon for our city; my track record of strong leadership, project management, and fiscal responsibility, will be instrumental in making prudent decisions that will benefit Del Mar.
